Your hands and feet are mangos, you're gonna be a genius anyway.

I am going to do my best to remember to write a letter about your gestational age each week. But since we know my memory isn't the best, I will make no promises. Here is your 23 week update from our newsletter:
Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With his sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. (sorry kid, hopefully you won't inherit my lack of rhythm) And now that he's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound - about as much as a large mango, you may be able to see him squirm underneath your clothes. (your father will be so excited about this. He hasn't felt you yet - maybe this is his week!)
Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing him for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze him when he hears them outside the womb.

You know, that last piece might be the best pregnancy news we've received thus far. Napoleon is notorious for barking at every single thing he hears. We were hoping he would curb this behavior, but we're learning that the saying "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" just might be true.
We'll keep trying anyway.
Love, love, love,
Mom
