Dear Spencer,
The Holiday season is officially over. We've made it through the hustle and bustle, the decorating and undecorating and enough holly and jolly to last a lifetime. I'd say your first Christmas was a roaring success.
To kick off the weekend festivities, we ate at the Waffle House on Christmas Eve. This family tradition began over 10 years ago out of necessity. As you know, your Nay doesn't cook and back in the day it was the only restaurant that was open in our sleepy town on Christmas Eve. Even though the current times give us more options, we stick to ol' faithful. This year was just like any other, we laughed a lot, ate too much and discussed all things Santa Claus.
After dinner we headed back to Aunt Sassy and Uncle B's for some fun. We sang karaoke, finished wrapping the last of the presents and baked cookies for Jolly ol' Saint Nick. Then we wrapped up our Christmas Eve traditions by sleeping at Aunt Sassy's and Uncle B's for what will probably be the last time ever. Sadness. You see, Mommy and Daddy have always stayed with them on Christmas Eve because we didn't want to miss seeing Talley and Molly receive their gifts from Santa in the wee hours. Now that we have a baby of our own, we'll have to start staying in our own home so Santa can visit us there. Of course, this year we left him directions to visit us at the Moncrief's house, but next year he'll be expecting us on Laurel Lane!
I guess you were totes excited to see what Santa brought you, because you were the first one to wake up on Christmas Day. You started stirring around 5:30AM so Daddy and I fed you a bottle and waited for Talley and Molly to wake up. Just when you were ready to pass back out, they finally got out of bed and we all entered the living room to see what presents awaited us!

Talley got a new coat!
You got a Jumperoo!
After we finished opening our gifts at Sassy and Uncle B's it was time to take a nap and head over to Mimi and Papa's house!
You were pretty annoyed by all the photos.
So you decided to take a nap.
And we took that opportunity to throw in a silly hat.
After we ate dinner and opened a gazillion presents at Mimi and Papa's, it was time to go home. That evening the three of us all got in our big bed and read "The Night Before Christmas". Yes, it was Christmas Night, but we received the book as a gift, so we wanted to be sure you heard the story at least once. Next year we'll work on timing.
At the end of the book, Mommy looked out the window and OMG IT WAS SNOWING!
As we were gazing out the window enjoying the sights of a winter wonderland, you decided to give me one last Christmas present in the form of explosive diarrhea that was so intense it required a bath and outfit change. I decided we would take this opportunity to wear some Christmas pajamas just one last time.
After all this excitement we couldn't go to sleep, so we installed what I think we can safely say is your most favorite toy ever. It was a mobile for your bed, a gift from the Moncriefs.

Baby jail just got a lot cooler.
After we watched you giggle and coo at your new toy for about an hour, we gave our good night kisses and headed to bed.
We had ourselves a merry little Christmas indeed.
Love,
Mommy
