After eight and half years, 4,400 American lives, tens of thousands of Iraqi lives, and over 30,000 wounded US soldiers, the war is over.
On Friday, October 21st, President Obama made the declaration that the war has ended and that our US troops stationed in Iraq will be back in the U.S. by December 31st of this year. Also, we're pulling back on the number of troops stationed in Afghanistan. Last Thursday, October 27th, Troup County welcomed home a unit of the Georgia National Guard, home from Afghanistan after a year of service!
I checked you, Talley, and Molly, out of school early so that we could go downtown and welcome them home! Here are some pics of us showing our love and support for the men and women who have been apart from their families in order to protect ours!
