Dear Spencer,
Last weekend Daddy and I went to our eight-hour birthing class at the hospital. We learned lots of really interesting things that have hopefully prepared us a little more for parenthood. We thought the most useful information was how to properly care for you. Yes, we've had some experience with your cousins, but we've never cared for a little boy so this should be a real learning experience for us all. Luckily, we have Mimi and Grandrad to offer their expertise, especially since they did such a good job raising Daddy! So now we can check "infant care" off our list. There's no way an eight-hour class has made us pros, but hopefully we'll do okay with the basics. We're just glad that Daddy now knows how to change the diaper on a baby doll. A real baby can't be that different, can it?
This weekend Daddy and Grandrad are going to (hopefully, if time permits) finish up the rest of the furniture for your nursery. We have all put so much love and effort into making your first room special for you and I can't wait to see the finished product. I hope you'll love it as much as we do!

You're in the home stretch! The third and final trimester starts this week! If you're like most women, you'll gain about 11 pounds this trimester (EEEK!). By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of his head to his heels. He can blink his eyes, which now sport lashes. With his eyesight developing, he may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. He's also developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.
Oh I just can't wait to see your chubby little eyelash sportin' face!
